Your Authority in Christ Part 2
Luke 10:17-19 – The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name! And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven.
Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. (Amplified version).
Today we will continue our journey into your ‘Authority in Christ’ by exploring the extent and magnitude of your authority. Friend, the Kingdom comes by power. Until we become fully aware and walk in the reality of our authority in Christ we will live like mere men. When we carry the full consciousness of our authority in Christ, then we will begin to live in the true dominion and liberty that belong to us.
From the above scripture in Luke, it is clear that we have been given power and authority over all the power that the enemy possesses. According to the above scripture, our authority covers the spirit realm, physical realm and the soul (mental, emotion, will) realm. This implies that we have power over spiritual forces. We can drive them out and bind them at will from interrupting our affairs. Through our authority in Christ we have emotional dominion, that is, we cannot be emotionally bankrupt or kept in depression. We have power over our emotions so lust and anger etc. cannot control us without our will or submission to them. We have authority over the thoughts that can rule and reign in our minds. We have power to change our mindset and thoughts at will. The devil cannot impose his thoughts on us without our co-operation. I didn’t say he will not try, I said he cannot force them on us. Our authority in Christ enables us to make proper decisions. Remember, we have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ within us gets stronger when we feed on God’s word about who we are in Christ.
We also see from the above scripture that we have authority over the physical realm. We can speak to our bodies to be well, we can speak to the weather, and we can speak to nature. In Mark 11, Jesus spoke to the fig tree; Jesus spoke to the wind and storm. He spoke to the body of the sick people and they were made whole. He used His authority over unclean spirits. He called finance and provision to come into His ministry when He fed the five thousand people and got money from the mouths of the fish to pay His tax.
Friend, you have authority in all realms of existence both seen and unseen. It is our responsibility to recognise this and stand up and use our authority to change our lives and then our world. You can re-create your world and make it a better place. Everything I have today I got by using my authority in Christ. God is no respecter of persons; what He did for me He will also do for you. We got and have our authority through Jesus Christ. All of God’s power has been deposited in the name of Jesus for us to use.
Personal declaration for the day
I am in Christ and Christ is in me. Therefore I have the power of Christ to rise above and stay above the challenges of life. Amen.
