Luke 6:37 – Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

When? Now and Quickly

When you forgive, you are helping first, yourself and second others and thirdly you establishing the rule and reign of Christ. Forgiveness is a gift you first give to yourself. Who gets the more help when you forgive the person who hurts you? Actually, you’re helping yourself more than the other person. To be unforgiving is like taking poison and thinking your offenders will drop dead and die. My dear friend, that’s not going to happen.

The best time to forgive is now. There is never a bad time to forgive. Never procrastinate forgiveness, as it would only give room for bitterness and resentment. In 2 Samuel chapters 13-19, Absalom allowed his hatred and anger towards Amnon his brother for raping his sister Tamar to fester for two years and it resulted in him masterminding the death of his brother. He left the hatred and anger to fester further and it resulted in him temporarily taking throne from David his father and sleeping with all his father’s concubines in the front of all Israel. The end was the death of two thousand men and the death of Absalom himself. Unforgiving people never end well. To be unforgiving is demonic and is a stronghold of the devil. So, the earlier you forgive the better for preventing mass destruction.
