John 5:4-5 – For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

John 16:33 – These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

The GREEK word for victory is NIKE – meaning to overcome, prevail or conquer.

In the above scripture in 1John the bible says everyone born of God has overcome the world. The actual translation is everyone born for God or born to God. The Greek word for world is KOSMOS meaning orderly arrangement, the system of operation. In otherwords, anyone born for God has conquered the systems of operation of this world. The bible declares that Satan is the god of the (system of this) world(2 Corinthians 4:4). After the fall of Adam, satan took over the world system and arranges it to suit his purposes. And is main objective is to upset the plan and of God and life of God’s creation. But Jesus came and conquered satan and his system. So when we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour he gave us the victory he has won and we too became overcomers. But we need to enforce our victory in Christ.

Our victory is through faith in the finished work of Christ not by our effort or wisdom. The system of this world is anti-God and antichrist but God’s system is superior. He is the most high so he is higher than the highest and he is greater than the greatest.

So being a child of God qualifies you for victory in every combat in life. You may ask, do I need to face battles again after all I thought Jesus has won the battle for me. Yes  Jesus has won the battle for you but because we are in fallen world and the devil still want to try and see whether or not you are aware of the your victory, so he throws obstacles in your way. But don’t let him deceive you, you are a victor. Remember, despite the fact that he knew that Jesus was the son of God, he still tempted him and tried to deceive him about his identity. So know your identity and hold fast to it. Put the word of God consistently in your heart and you will develop a strong faith for a life of victory.

Friend, you are a victor, so you have the power to overcome the spirit of bitterness, unforgivenes and resentment. Anytime bitterness and resentment raise its head in your life and tells you reasons why you cannot or should not forgive or be forgiven, you should declare word of God and claim you victory. Remember, unforgiveness affects you more than the person you have refused to forgive. It damages you and gives you sleepless nights. It drains you and heaps condemnation up on your head. So get rid of it and begin to walk in victory.
