John 3:3 – 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Galatian 2:20 – 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Adam and eve sinned and they died spiritually. They were separated and alienated from the life of God. From the act of disobedience of the first man, the whole of creation partook of this sinful nature which brings about death. Please realize that wherever there is sin, death followed suit. There was therefore a need for us to be reconciled with God; hence, He sent His son Jesus to conquer death and restore this new life in Christ. The process is called the new birth which means to be born again. The process of being born again is quite profound because the natural man would not be able to imagine how possible this could be. Nicodemus in John 3 asked if a person had to go back to his mother’s womb again for this new birth. However, this birth is spiritual which entails having firstly to be dead. Yes, we first have to die to self (be crucified with Christ), then raised to eternal life.
There are some characteristics of a dead person. The person can’t feel pain, be hurt nor can the person die again. Friends, if you are already crucified with Christ; pain, poverty, sickness, disease nor death can have the authority or power over you again. If you have been spiritually reborn, you already have the victory over death. Hallelujah! You are operating under a new covenant (the spirit of life in Christ Jesus). You don’t need to fear death anymore because death does not have jurisdiction where you are concerned.
1 Corinthians 15:57 – 55 56 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; 57 and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
We need to understand that sin is the hinge of death but thanks be to God, we who are born anew are free and cannot be stung with death anymore. We have the victory over death and this Victory is total and absolute.
Welcome to your new life.

Questions for Reflection:
- Do you believe that indeed your new life in Christ has excluded you from spiritual death?
- Do you understand what it means for you to be born again, and how is it affecting the way you see yourself?
I have total victory over death!
