Hebrews 5:9

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The word total means entire, absolute, full and complete. Salvation is the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil. It means preservation, health, safety, protection. Package is the collection of things wrapped or boxed together.

Total salvation package implies that salvation is full, complete collection of all of deliverance.

The Hebrew and Greek meaning of salvation is defined as deliverance, victory, prosperity, health, welfare, save, saving, healing, rescue etc. Salvation is one of the key concepts of God’s revelation to humanity. The biblical idea of salvation involves three actions, first is the rescue from danger, harm or death of an individual , group or nation, most specifically salvation is deliverance from sin and death.

Secondly is the new birth of the spirit, the scripture explains that humanity fell from the original condition of moral purity into the state of sin. God’s salvation regenerates the spirit of a person to lead the person and cause him to live a life that is pleasing to God.

Thirdly is the restoration of a right relationship with God. The written word of God makes it clear that salvation restores ones’ relationship with God Rom 5:10.

God’s salvation include: rescue, renewal, restoration; and is accomplished in a man through the finished work of His son, our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament lays a foundation for a biblical understanding of salvation. God is holy and can’t tolerate sin, while human beings have fallen from grace to grass (sinful nature) and because God can’t behold iniquity, He saves and redeems His people from their sins so that they can approach him; however redemption as at the time was through blood sacrifice of bulls, goats etc. Whereas in the New Testament we understood that it’s only by grace alone through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ that we are saved and all that was lost has been restored. Salvation being the initiating love of God for the world (John3:16, Eph 1:3-6), God’s eternal purpose is to save sinners through Jesus atoning death on the cross.

We can therefore infer from the above that total salvation package is a free gift for all and to those who are willing to accept this wonderful gift.

Being born again which is the most important part of the total salvation package, and this occurs when a person accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour. This is the new birth and it is the greatest gift and miracle. 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 10:9:10, Ephesians 1:3. The baptism of the Holy spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues is another gift while other gifts that comes with this total package are: the fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22:23, the gifts of the spirit 1Corinthians 12, Deliverance Psalm 91, Redemption Ephesians 1:7, Restoration Luke 19:8, Reconciliation, Healing and Divine health, Miracles, Spiritual, emotional, physical, social and financial prosperity in every area of our lives. 3 John1:2 Psalm 35:27.
