The Purpose of Divine Provision
Deuteronomy 8:18 – And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers as it is this day.
When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. One of the reasons why some Christians are abusing God’s blessing either by not receiving or wasting it, is because they don’t know the purpose of divine provision.
The following are some of the reasons why God wants you to enjoy divine provision:
He wants you to enjoy divine provision because of His love for you – Matthew 7: 9-11 : 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
The Bible in John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave…” A non-giving love is no love at all. You can give without loving but you can never love without giving. God is love and in addition to that, He loves you passionately and completely, and because of His love for you, He has chosen to meet all of your needs. Before He created Adam and Eve, He created all things that they would ever need. So, when Adam and Eve were created, they did not have need for anything. They had everything in abundance.
He wants you to enjoy divine provision because of His will – Deuteronomy 8:18 – God gives us divine provision to establish His will. His will is that none should perish but come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He wants everyone to know His love and presence. So, He gives us divine provision so we can testify to others of His goodness and love and as a result, draw them closer to Him. Remember, after Jesus met the woman at the well and told her all about her life and He could give the water of life, she ran into the city and told all of the people about the goodness of Christ. As a result, the whole city heard the gospel. That is what divine provision is meant to do: to show people the goodness of God and draw them to Him.
He wants you to enjoy divine provision so as to destroy the works of the devil – 1 John 3:8 – He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
The devil has come to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came to give abundant life John 10:10. Scarcity came with the fall but abundance came with Christ. Death came with the fall but life came through Christ Jesus. God wants you to have abundance so you will destroy the works of the devil by eradicating poverty, sickness, homelessness, human trafficking, building Churches, and transforming communities and do many things to stop the advancement of darkness and create light. God wants you to have abundance to continue the mission of Christ which is to destroy the works of the devil and establish the Kingdom of God. This is called strategic elimination of darkness.
