Romans 5:8 – … but God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. John 14:15 – … if you love Me, keep My commandments. Ephesians 5:25-29
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the Church. Love is never passive, it is always active. Love is demonstrative and never static. Love carries with it the responsibility of action and giving. Love has proofs. A non-demonstrative and non-giving love is no love at all. You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving. God proved His love to humanity by sending and giving Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sins and to bring us back into relationship with Him. Jesus did not die for you, He died as you. (2 Corinthians 5:21). So, the proof of God’s love for fallen humanity is the sacrifice of Jesus. In like manner, we cannot say we love God and not demonstrate it. Jesus set the required proof in John 14:15: the proof of our love is obedience. You are readily willing to please those you love. You never want to intentionally upset those you love. Our way of showing that we love God is by obeying His instructions. By the way, His instructions are always for our good. He never intends to use them to frustrate us but to create a better life for us. 1John 5:3 – For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. The same applies in marriage and every other relationship. Love motivates
you to go the extra mile and pay a special price to show how much you treasure those you love and how precious they are to you. Love starts from the heart and ends with corresponding actions. Until love is demonstrated, it is incomplete. Intention is not invention. Show your love.
