The Presence of God

Psalm 16:11 – You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

One definition of ‘presence’ is area within sight or earshot: the immediate vicinity of somebody or something.

Using real life situation, with reference to this definition, in an organisation, for instance where I work, within working hours and sometimes outside working hours, I get instructions on what to do, sometimes it’s a busy day and sometimes not so much, but the bottom line is there is always something to do, afterall that is why I was employed into the company. At each of these times, I take instructions either standing in front of my boss’s desk, over my extension, email, or by chat.? I can say that at these times my attention is full at the presence of my boss to listen to instructions, and I make sure I’m at alert so as not to miss a call, so that I can do my job each day

These days technology has made it possible for messages to be passed from anywhere at anytime as long as the receiver is connected. I mentioned only the receiver because, one who wants to send a message knows to be connected, but the receiver might not be aware of a coming message therefore does not see the need to be.

It’s the same with our relationship with God. We did not become saved just to be called by that name, but we have a job as one whom God has given his presence to. I had a personal experience one day, a man had come in for a meeting at my office, as soon as I saw the man I felt a tightness in my chest, God ministered to me to pray for this man the burden was so much, I prayed and prayed, not knowing why particularly, but I prayed, I felt better afterwards. Now I don’t know what was averted or not, but I prayed and I know that the man was delivered at that point, I have been awoken at midnight severally to pray for people. Now imagine if we leave the presence of God and don’t receive instructions to do our daily job…..each of us are unique and have been called for a specific purpose, I gave an example of my place of work, now I was employed for a particular job, and my not being there to do my job will cause a gap, after a while a substitute will be called but won’t it be fulfilling to do what I have been employed to do, and successfully too.

We should understand that there are people out there whose lives depend on the privilege of the presence of God we have, God is always speaking, always giving instructions, for us personally and for the benefit of others, if we have this at the back of our mind, as a matter of fact we should crave it, knowing that someone will live a better life and be saved because of this. I got this understanding because of personal experience, ?we do not know what will be suffering if we intentionally or unintentionally disconnect for His presence.
