The Holy Spirit, Our Senior Partner Part 1
What does it mean to call someone a senior partner? Senior implies higher in rank or position and where there is a senior, there will surely be a junior. A partner is one who shares responsibility in some common activity with another individual or group. In this case, the relationship is between you and the Holy Spirit- He is the senior partner and we are junior partners.
The Bible asks can two work together lest they agree? (Amos 3:3) This implies that before any relationship can work, there has to be an agreement. We need to know our responsibility towards the Holy Spirit and His responsibility towards us. We are then able to manifest our sonship to the maximum.
Let us examine what Jesus’ purpose of sending the Holy Spirit was. From the above scripture in Acts, we can see that the arrival of the Holy Spirit makes heaven’s power available to us on earth and that power makes us witnesses (proof producers).
The Holy Spirit is sent to help reach the climax of supernatural power display. Many think that power in the above scripture means speaking in tongues; however, that is not the case. The Greek word used here is ‘DUNAMIS’ meaning miracle-working power, wonder-working power and inherent force.
“Well, I have the Holy Spirit within me but I am not manifesting the miracle working power of God. Why?” I want you to know that we get baptised in the Holy Spirit once but we get filled with the Holy Spirit over and over again because we are constantly using His supply for our daily living. There are different levels of infilling. According to the book of Ezekiel, speaking figuratively, the first level reaches the ankle, then the knee, then the waist and then we swim in it.
My attention has been drawn to the fact that many people want the anointing and really seek it whole heartedly but they forget that it is with constant communion with the Holy Spirit that makes the anointing flow naturally. You must first build your day-to-day and moment-by-moment relationship with the Holy Spirit. It is consistency in this area that increases your level of infilling and after this, you will break out in an unusual dimension of the anointing.
Let me make this clear: the Holy Spirit rises within us like water in a container as we deliberately talk and involve Him in every area of our lives. Starting with little things, follow His instructions. For example, don’t wait for trouble to strike before you start employing the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He is sent to be with you at all times and forever so get Him totally and thoroughly involved. Ask for His guidance both when you think you know what to do and when you don’t know what to do. Receive His guidance when you think you have it together and when you think all hope is lost. The Holy Spirit is not our shock absorber. He is our director, guide, teacher and comforter.
