The ever giving God
Psalm 115:16 – The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
Today we will be exploring the giving nature of God and we will consider some the contents of the gift and the result. From Genesis to Revelation we see from the scriptures that God gave and gave again and he is still giving today. It is interesting to note that God spent the entire creation process creating everything to give to mankind. God did not create the world for himself. He created it for us and gave it all to us. God derives fulfilment from giving. Friend, we cannot out give God. The law of multiplication rests on giving. God has given us total dominion over all of creation excluding our fellowman. Our authority is a gift from God and it is authentic. Even after the fall of man, Adam still had a residue of the gift of the authority that God gave Him. This implies that man in his fallen state still carries a degree of authority. That is why man can tame animals and combat disease even in His fallen state. But thank God in Christ we have more than the leftovers of the initial power. In Christ we have the fully restored power of God.
God gave before and after the fall. After the fall of man God began to prepare how He would give mankind another chance. Then He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to restore mankind back to fellowship with Him. He gave Jesus up so that we might get eternal life. He gave Jesus up so that we might get the blessings in place of curses. He gave Jesus up so that we might live in divine health instead of sickness. Now in Christ he has given us power over every power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. Friend, do you know that God will never refuse to forgive us our sins though He hates sin. In which case if He never refuses to forgive us our sins why would He refuse us victory over sin and the forces of hell. God is always willing to give and forgive.
The Bible says God daily loads us with benefits. No day passes without a gift from God. No wonder His glory covers the earth as the water covers the sea. We need to live in a constant state of expectancy and be willing to receive from the Lord. As much as God gives us every day we need to give serious attention to Him in order to enjoy all the things that He has richly provided for us. God is always giving and are we always receiving. Later, I will show you what has been freely and richly given to us by God and how to receive this.
Genesis 1:26, 1 Timothy 6:17, Hebrews 2: 6-8, Psalm 8:3-8
Personal declaration for the day
I will enjoy every gift that has given me in Christ Jesus and I will use them to bring Him glory.
