THE ENEMIES OF VISION – PART 3

THE ENEMIES OF VISION PART 3

MARCH 11

Today, I will continue to highlight some enemies of vision. Successful vision requires spiritual understanding and development of skills. One of the important aspects of understanding required is sensitivity to the tools that the devil uses to displace and undermine our God given vision. We need to be armed with knowledge of our God given vision and the devices of the enemy uses to delay or stop its effectiveness.

Wrong company and poor/lack of discernment

2 Corinthians 15:33 – Be not deceived: “Evil associations corrupt good manners.”(The Millennium Bible)

We are all product of influences. No one is greater than the company they keep. With regards to vision, a person with one mile long vision will probably not have much to offer to a person with a 100-mile long vision. A person who has not discovered his vision or is not walking in line with his vision is not likely to be a good influence on a person who has discovered and is walking in line with the vision God gave him. Not all company are good and not all company is necessary because not all company increases your productivity. It is your responsibility to study and discerns each of your relationships and company you keep to categorise them accordingly. Jesus had seven levels of relationships. The relationship He had with world, is different from the one He had with house of Israel, the relationship He had with Pharisees and teachers of the law was different from the one had with the multitude, the relationship He had with the seventy he sent out was different from the one He had with the twelve disciples, the relationship He had with Peter, James and John is different from the one He had with the other twelve. If you don’t handle your relationship with discernment you may forfeit the fulfilment of your vision because not everyone around you will embrace the vision that God has given you. You don’t need to follow and know everybody, follow and know the right people. Your company will either boost or blow your vision.

Lack of understanding

Proverbs 13:15 – Good understanding gains favour, But the way of the unfaithful is hard.

Without a proper grasp of the vision that God has given you will run in vain. Having a good grasp of the vision God has given you is what distinguishes you from other people. You need to have a solid and unchangeable conviction of what God has for you to do. This is how God operates. He prepares a plan and then he makes a person to fit into the plan and accomplish it. Before God created you he made and concluded the plan He wants you to fulfil but you need to understand beyond any shadow of doubt what the plan is. The way you do this is by seeking God on a daily basis and commitment to undertake what he reveals to you. No one can fulfil the role God has created for you. Many lose out in life because they never know that they are unique and never need to be a copy.

Selfishness and narrow mindedness

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 -Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Proverbs 15:22 – Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.

The ultimate purpose of every divine vision is to make lasting positive impact in the lives of people. God’s vision is centred on affecting lives by making them better and more productive. Vision may be given to a person or to a small group of people but its ultimate fulfilment will involve many players and participants. One of the major problems of visionaries is lack of largeness of heart for the growth of the vision beyond them. You must be willing and ready to share the credit of the success of the vision with every participant. Never let it be all about you or else you will kill the vision. Look beyond today and look far into the future of how the vision will remain and continue to grow long after you have left the scene. Be willing to share the stage with your co-labourers that share and embrace the vision with you.
