THANKSGIVING, THE SECRET TO ANSWERED PRAYER – Part 1
Philippians 1:3 – I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy…
Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
CONVEYANCE FOR PRAYER
Thanksgiving is the platform on which your request is delivered faster to God. It paves the way for manifestation of your prayer. It is the vehicle that helps convey your prayer on a fast track lane to God. Thanksgiving is like the highway you construct with your mouth on which the truck conveying your answers will travel. With your mouth, you create what you want and that is how we have been wired after the order of God the Father who created everything by the word of His mouth. Whatever you want to see and you thank God for, will surely come to past. When you complain in prayer, you use your mouth to delay the manifestation. When you speak negatively after you have prayed, you have only just used your mouth to erect a stop sign in the path of the delivery of your request, but when you engage the gear of thanksgiving after you have prayed, you have just fast-tracked the delivery and the manifestation of the answer.
EXPRESSION OF FAITH
Thanksgiving is faith in motion. It is a show of the expression of your faith in God to attend to your petitions. By being thankful in your prayer or after you have prayed only goes to show that you first believe in the ability of God to answer your prayer and secondly, that what you prayed for has been heard and answered but awaiting manifestation. This is faith in action: thanking God in advance or on credit. The Scripture says in Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith [ it is] impossible to please[ Him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and [that] He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Your coming to God to ask, is faith but a greater faith is when you come to Him with thanksgiving for what you are still believing Him to do. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Imagine me thanking you for making me a promise of a car when you are yet to deliver. Imagine me sending you a thank you card two days after, sending my siblings to thank you. Am sure at some point, you will feel embarrassed at how much faith I have in your promise and that will encourage you to make well your promise. God sees faith when He hears your thanksgiving, and He is moved by faith and not by emotions.
Thanksgiving is what you do after you have prayed to keep your focus on the result and not the request. The above Scripture in Philippians 4:6 says – by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. When you mix your request with thanksgiving, it keeps your attention on God as the Source. Thanksgiving brings your request from the region of petition and supplication to the region of submission to His will. Every prayer request garnished with thanksgiving will give a good aroma to your request and guess what? God will smell a sweet smelling savour and just show up in your party. Your thanksgiving elevates God in your heart and makes Him bigger than your request. When God is elevated, automatically, your face is lifted and your gaze is on Him. The more you see the bigness of your God, the less you notice the size of your problem. When the tide is lifted, it lifts the boat with it. In the same way, when God is lifted, you are equally lifted above your challenges.
