As you are aware God has told us that this year is our year of supernatural promotion. Therefore there is no doubt that God wants us to be promoted and stay promoted. However for everything God does the devil has a counterfeit.

In this piece we will be exploring the different types of promotion that exist. They include natural promotion, self promotion, people promotion, satanic promotion and God’s promotion.

Natural promotion is the normal progression of life when all things are in order and in their right places. For example a student in level one should progress to level two next year all other things being equal. When a student graduates from the university the normal progression is for them to get a job and practice in the area of training. This is natural progress of things which many times is not the case.

Self promotion is when you embark on elevating yourself at all cost and at the expense of others. Pulling others down to go up and making progress at the destruction of any one in your path. This is otherwise known as self centred promotion. Please don’t get me wrong, God wants you to make progress, excel and win but not at the expense or to the detriment of others. It is true, that everyone cannot be the fastest runner in the world but everyone one can be number 1 in their God given purpose while others are number 1 their purpose as well. In the kingdom of God no one is destined to lose we are destined to be winners. Paul wrote about the apostolic grace of God on him to minister to the Gentiles and the apstolic Grace of God on Peter to minister to the Jews. One of the drawbacks of self promotion is that it has to be self sustained. Everyman can be the best father to their children and every woman can be the best mother to their children, every pastor can be the best pastor to their and every member can be the best member to their pastor in the role they play in the ministry. The list goes on and on.

People promotion is the government of the people by the people for the people. In most western society the people in political leadership are elected by the people. So an ordinary citizen today can become the president tomorrow by the will of the majority of the people. This type of promotion come and is sustained by the will of the people. This type of promotion is a double edges sword because it is people’s opinion driven. Please be aware that whatever you need people to get, you will need people to keep. Another drawback of this is the chosen person would evidently put his signature on the society in one way or another. The society will take on both the strength and weakness of such leader.  If he does not believe in God, his policies will be executed without the fear of God. An example of people promotion is in the book of 1 Samuel 8, when the elders of Israel said they want a King like other nations. Prior to this God was their leader and they were far above other nations but they thought they could do a better job by choosing their leaders themselves. From scriptures, it is obvious that they were wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against democracy, it is good but it is not God’s best and it also has it roots in self promotion but only on a national level.  I always ask people to pray before they cast their vote and intercede for their nations and government because prayer brings heaven’s intervention into the earth. In a place where there is a dictator  prayer works as well. We have seen God intervene in dictator led government in the bible. If he did it once, he will do it again.
