Some causes of bad decision making
Hosea 4:6 – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children
Today I will outline some causes of bad decision making and how to solve them.
Ignorance or Lack of good information –
The greatest cause of bad decision making is lack of adequate and relevant knowledge. Assumption is the lowest form of intelligence. Life is governed by laws and to be ignorant of these laws makes you vulnerable to losses. The cure to ignorance is qualitative research and acquisition of relevant knowledge regarding the subject matter you are to decide on. Remember, in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Junk –
Some people have not let go of their past and as a result they cannot enter into their future. For example some have kept in their mental diary past hurts, losses, e.t.c and have not let go. They are still grieving their former relationships, lost shoes, unsuccessful job interviews, etc. Don’t make a memorial out of a bad past experience.
To deal with emotional or mental junk you need to talk to a trusted friend or to your Pastor(s). The worst thing you can do to yourself is to live in denial. Don’t sweep it under the carpet deal with it so you can regain your sanity, make quality decisions and avoid another disaster.
Eternal pressures –
Most people have the best of intention when setting their goals but as they begin to deliberate on their goals a lot of external factors begin to re-shape and colour their imagination. These factors include culture, values, family issues, peer pressure, finance, satanic attacks.
While I am not saying you should ignore these factors, I suggest you should weigh things properly before you allow them control your decision. Remember, we are all products of our decisions and we live to face the consequences resulting there from. I pray for wisdom for you in Jesus mighty name.
