Resisting Destructive Mindset – Part 2

September 27

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.

Examples of destructive and common mindset

Seeing God from a wrong perspective:
The bible has instructed we fear God and obey His commands. Some have taken this instruction to the extreme because of the picture they have set in their mind. They see God as too big that they dare not find themselves around him not to talk of inviting his presence into their lives, they feel he carries so much power and has fire all around him so they can’t go near, He is too holy to answer their prayers because they have committed unpardonable sins, too busy to ever think they exist etc. To such, having a close relationship with God is a myth. This has made them see themselves as nobody, with low self-esteem, lacking all the good gifts and relationships that God has made available to them. They thereby prefer to associate with unbelievers because that’s who they think they are.

Seeing yourself from a wrong perspective:
Seeing one’s self as a sinner or outcast from the kingdom of God, makes life really miserable. You begin to feel since God does not care so you are not beautiful or God is partial, you eventually become envious of others, engage in unholy relationships, live with guilt and bitterness etc…
It is important we realize that this is just a trick of the enemy. It’s a major height that is blocking you from the goodness of God.

Ancestral strongholds
These are reoccurring and unpleasant cases from one generation to another within a family chain. It could be premature death, late marriage, poverty, broken marriage, wife battering etc. As children of God we must be observant of such trends. If we have identified any, we have the right to pull down these strongholds with the Word of God.

How to Pull down strongholds
2 Corinthians 10:4 for the weapon of our warfare is not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Only the word of God can debunk the lies of the enemy. The bible says we shall know the truth and it shall set us free. The truth about every belief can be found in the Word of God. So we should consciously search the scriptures and know what God says about our lives .Constant meditation on the word and daily confession of who God says we are will bring a divine transformation in our lives.
