Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Luke 11:24-44

Luke 11:24-44

Summary
24-28: Jesus was speaking about how important it is to replace in every vessel that has been delivered from any spirit with the obedience of the word of God.
29-32: Jesus declared Himself as the sign to the entire word. Using Jonah as an example who was sent to Nineveh’s generation that they may repent from their evil ways and escape judgement and condemnation.
33-36: Jesus Christ taught that the Lamp of the body is God. If a believer should allow God to light him up, then such believer shall shine. No longer shall he be in darkness and also he shall give light to his world.
37-44: Jesus basically addressed the issue of hypocrisy. Stating that the Pharisees pay attention to what is unnecessary and giving the necessary less attention. He spoke about the six woes and how important it is to imparting lives than keeping the law.

LIFE APPLICATION
We must never allow ourselves to remain the same after every encounter with God. The devil never rest even after he has been defeated, we must fill ourselves up by hearing the word and obeying it, if not we risk being worse than we once were.
Jesus is the hope of the world and Just like Jonah was, so are we even much more. We have been sent to a particular part of the world that only us can reach, we must become the sign of generation, impart it with the gospel so that many can reach Christ and be saved from destruction, judgement and condemnation. God is counting on you too.
Let’s allow the Light of God to shine through us so that we no longer live in the darkness of this world. The more of God we have, the brighter we shine. We must see the world through God serving as our eyes, we then shall become the light everywhere we go, at work, at school, at home, at meetings, everywhere we go. Everywhere we find ourselves. Let God be our light and let our world glow with the Light of God.

Finally, it is important that we pay attention to the things that are necessary, we live by faith through grace and the routine of the law should have less part on how we live our lives. What is necessary is that we impart lives and so that we don’t become like unmarked graves, people who lived without anyone remembering anything about them. Your live must be full of impact!

Declaration
I declare that from today, i carry out my responsibility as a believer, to be filled with the Word that i hear and obey them, to become a sign to my generation, to allow God to light up the world through me and to impact lives for good, so help me God. In Jesus’ name

Reading – Luke 11:24-44

24 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ 25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”

27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”

28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

The Sign of Jonah

29 As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. 30 For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. 31 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and now something greater than Jonah is here.

The Lamp of the Body

33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,[b] your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

Woes on the Pharisees and the Experts in the Law

37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.

39 Then the Lord said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. 40 You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”
