LESSONS ON ABUNDANCE
Hello Friends, we begin this month with the topic of abundance and I believe that you will experience a torrential rain of abundance according to the word of prophecy. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly,” John 10:10b. The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to some lessons on abundant living through the story of four Israelite lepers who stumbled into abundant riches overnight in 2 kings 2:7-17. I strongly believe that if we apply these lessons not as a formula but as lifestyle, spending our days in prosperity and years in good pleasure will be a reality.
Then Elisha said, hear ye the word of the Lord, by this time tomorrow shall a measure of flour be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gates of Samara. The Lord on whose hand the kings leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might these things be? And he said behold thou shall see it with thine eyes but shall not eat of thereof. 2Kings 7: 1-2
LESSON 1: JUST BELIEVE
Believing a positive proclamation such as this does not cost you anything, I’ll rather believe it even if it fails than to doubt and find out at the end of the day that it was a sure word, by which time it will be too late to act. Your unbelief cannot render the word of God ineffective; it will only cut you off the blessing that comes from believing without seeing. The proclamation from the prophet indeed sounded ridiculous and impossible but the bible says, ‘Believe the Lord your God, so shall you be established; believe His prophet and so shall you prosper.’ Believe the word above your skills or experience, even if you have doubts in your heart, deal with it and don’t verbalize it. Mary had doubts about the prophecy from Angel Gabriel but rather than express her doubt, she turned it to a prayer; Let it be unto me according to thy word.’ Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones said to God, ‘You are the only one that knows this.’ Abraham believed and it was counted to him as righteousness. Your belief will rightly position you for the manifestation of the promise. Just Believe!
And there were four leprous men at the entering of the gate: and they said one to another, why sit here until we die? If we say we enter into the city, the famine is in the city and we shall die there: and if we sit here, we die also. Now come let us fall on the host of the Syrians, if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us we shall but die. 2Kings 7:3-5
LESSON 2: BE DECISIVE
– Make a decision on what to do. The lepers weighed all their options and none of it had a pleasant result but still had to decide all the same.
-The proof of your believe is that you make a move in the direction of what you believe.
– Indecision is a killer of destiny.
-Indecision is decision not to do anything.
-When you don’t do anything, you don’t get anything.
– If you refuse to decide, eventually circumstances will compel you to make hasty decisions.
-Indecision is like standing on the wall and when the wall falls you fall with it.
And they arose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians: and when they came to the uttermost part of the camp, behold there was no man, for the Lord had made the host of Syrians to hear a noise of chariots and noise of horses…… and they fled for their lives. (The lepers came and divided the spoil) Vs 5-8
LESSON 3: MAKE A MOVE
-Stop waiting on God when in actual fact God is waiting on you to make a move.
– Even when situations seem unsure like the twilight, (not day, not night) still make a move.
– God will only move when you move, and when He does, He will amplify your steps and make the little things you do count.
– It is not how much you have to start that counts but what you do with what you have.
-People make it in life by doing something.
-The red sea will not part until you move forward. Exodus 14:15.
– The wall of Jericho will not fall until you move.
– Even if you don’t have anything to do, just make a move and you will find something to do.
– There must be something you are doing that God will bless to give you abundance.
Now therefore, come that we may tell this good news and share with the King and his household. ( Vs 9b paraphrased)
LESSON 4: BE KINGDOM MINDED
The lepers after helping themselves, remembered the King and His kingdom.
– Abundance is excess of what you need and the reason for this is for the work of the kingdom. Exodus 3:21-22, 12:35-36, Exodus 25:2 God blesses you for the kingdom in mind.
-When you are a kingdom seeker, things will seek you – Matthew6:31-33.
-If you are mindful of the kingdom, God will be mindful of you.
– Zechariah 1:17- He will put the wealth in your hands for the purpose of the kingdom.
– Yes, He delights in your prosperity but you must favour His cause – Ps35:27.
-Every wealth you keep away from God will automatically keep you away from God – Matt 6:4.
-Your degree of Kingdom committment, determines the level of your prosperity.
-The bigger your kingdom dreams are, the bigger the resources that you will command. Haggai 2:7-8
LESSON 5: BE PEOPLE MINDED
-Your willingness to be a blessing to the world around you, is the reason God will bless you abundantly. Genesis 12:2
-As you reach out to the needy, you commit God not just to meet your needs but to give you abundance to meet more needs. Proverbs 22:9
-Giving and sharing authenticates the sincerity of your love. 1John 3:17
-Being a willing distributor guarantees you an unending access to God’s abundance. 1Timothy 6:17-19, psalm 112:4-9
