Lessons of His Presence – Part 2
Lesson 3: The intention of His presence
And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel. (?KJV)
God gave Moses specific instructions to build an ark with the mercy seat on top because He wanted to meet and commune with them. We need to realise an encounter with God precedes communication with Him. You cannot effectively communicate with whom you do not know. Paul said that he might know Him; and the power of His resurrection. Many want to experience the power without the knowledge of who He is.
When you make a commitment to walk and commune with God, He is waiting because He wants to meet with you as a friend. The Scriptures say God spoke to Moses face to face as a man speaks to his friend; this is the relationship God wants with us in His presence. Studying and meditating on the Word will oil our relationship as the power of the Holy Spirit keeps the fire of God burning in us. The Word of God maintains the presence of God in us. The instruction God gave Moses to build the ark also signifies we need to be intentional in hosting the presence of God. Be deliberate in your communication with Him. He further told him to place the testimony (Word of God) in the ark. Friend, you need the Word of God to be alive and active in your life to maintain a steady relationship with your Father. He wants to tell you more about who He is. When you draw close Him; He will draw near to you.
Lesson 4: The presence of God with you
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (?KJV)
We all go through different phases and challenging periods in life. The promise of God to us is that there will never be a time when we will be alone. There are different kinds of storms in life; we have financial storms, marital storms, and secret storms; no matter what your storm is, God says He will grant you peace in the midst of it. This means that the presence of God will make a way right in the middle of your challenge. The psalmist said, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because You are with me.” Friends, this shows that we will go through challenges, but you don’t have to fret nor bottle everything in by yourself, He says, “ I will help you in whatever phase or situation you are in.”
There is no doubt that the presence of God is with you, this was further experienced in the life of Daniel and His friends when a fourth man appeared in the fire. When you are in your weak state, the presence of God is your strength so that you will not be moved. The presence of God is the bush that burns but not consumed. So be at peace, you will come out of it and surely testify. Daniel and His friends maintained their integrity and were not moved by the threats of the king. They were unwilling to compromise their faith and God showed up. God says that He will never leave you nor forsake you. When you trust God that He is with you, you will never be moved.
