There are some pertinent questions we need to ask and be asked in order to expose the real state of our heart when it concerns forgiveness.

Receiving Forgiveness

Do I need forgiveness?

1 John 1:8  ‘If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us’.

One of the strategies of the enemy is making one live in complete denial of the state of one’s heart. A lot of people are laden with guilt of mistakes done and feel the only way to relief the pain is by living in denial of the deed. It is however very crucial that unconfessed sins be exposed and dealt with. If you have fallen into error or made a mistake; please know that God is not mad at you. He however cannot behold iniquity, hence, we need to go to Him as our father and talk to Him about what we need forgiveness from.

What do I need forgiveness from?

Proverbs 28:13 ‘He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy’.

The source of our guilt is what we need forgiveness from. Unconfessed sins hinder our prosperity; hence we need to allow God minister to us by the Help of His Holy Spirit. When we become open with God concerning our struggles and the challenges we are facing, then we have opened a door for him to come in and help our weaknesses. We need to be specific on the sin that entraps us.
