How to qualify for Divine Provision  – Part 1

Divine abundance is not automatic and it is not a promise to be claimed, it is a covenant you enter into. A covenant is a conditional agreement between two or more parties with each party having responsibility or duty to perform in order to partake in the benefits of the covenant. In today’s terms, a covenant is a contract and every contract has conditions and obligations for those involved in it. We have a covenant of divine abundance and there are requirements for us to gain access into it. I will discuss some of these qualifications today:-

1. Obedience and Service – Job 36:11 – If they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

John 8:29 – And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.

From my study of the bible, I have found that being obedient to God is a major key to enjoying divine abundance. You cannot disregard God and expect him to bless you for that. The bible declares that if we are willing and obedient we will eat the best from the land. All our bible role models obeyed God and when that stopped obeying God they were displaced. Your divine abundance is on the other side of your obedience.

Obedience with right heart and attitude is what is acceptable to God. Obedience is not complete without corresponding action. It is not enough to say yes to God in your heart, you must act out your obedience.

Tithes and offering – Luke 11:42 But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

Malachi 3:  8-12 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; 12 “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts.

Tithe is the tenth of what God has blessed you. The process of giving it to God for propagation of the gospel is called tithing. The bible teaches us to bring the tithe into God’s storehouse. The store house is where you receive maximum spiritual benefit. The place where you fed the word of God. You do yourself a lot of disservice when you don’t tithe because you miss out on opportunities to be blessed.

Offering is a gift you give to God and you decide the size and the amount.  The difference between tithe and offering is, the amount of tithe is fixed but the amount of offering is not fixed. God has decided the tithe but you decide the offering.  You cannot get out of life what you did not put into it. Your seed determines your harvest. Some say tithing is past as it is an Old Testament practice and because we are New Testament believers we should not live by Old Testament standards. Others say tithing is legalistic and because we are under grace we should not tithe.  In the above scripture in Luke Jesus recommends tithing in New Testament. Furthermore, Abraham was the first to tithe in the bible and he tithe before the law so tithing was before the law was given to Moses. If we are not to tithe because it was an Old Testament practise then we should not give offering because it is an Old Testament practice.  The tithe is key to entering into financial abundance and it precedes offering.  It is foundation of all other types of giving.  Until you tithe you have not given God what belongs to him.  Leviticus 27:23 – And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord.

I always encourage people; if you have doubts about anything in the bible tell God to help you with understanding.
