How to overcome Fear – Part 2
The Holy Spirit
The Bible says that fear is a spirit. So, fill up on the Holy Spirit and no spirit that’s not of God would dwell within you. If the Holy Spirit gauge is low, fear will grow. So, top it up by praying in the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:20-21 ‘But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God…’
For example, when you have a job interview – pray in tongues. Pray in the Spirit. God will give you answers and speak through the Holy Spirit to you. The closer you are to a person, the easier it is to hear them. The same applies with God. The closer you are to Him, the easier it is to hear Him.
Fear can compromise your obedience to God. For example: you could be afraid that if you tithe, the project you intend to carry out may suffer delay. The safest place to be when fear comes is in the will of God. God loves obedience: it is His will and He rewards it.
The widow woman was fearful but she obeyed God and fed Elisha. Moses obeyed God and led the people. Abraham obeyed God. Mary the mother of Jesus obeyed God.
Fear will come but know the power of the covenant you have with God. Keep your side of the bargain and fear will not prevail against you.
When fear kicks in, start to praise God. Sing out to the Lord. By so doing, you are saying to fear, “I don’t fear you, I praise the God I know and I trust Him to deliver me from all harm.”
In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were captured, tortured and they used their chains as tambourines and sang praises to the Lord.
Show your faith through praise and fear will flee from you.
Can you imagine having a fearless life?
Psalm 23 says, “…even though I am in the dark shadow of the valley of death, I will fear no evil.”
If you are fearless, you become limitless. Fear caused Peter to do and say a lot of things but when he became fearless, he brought 5000 people to Jesus in one day.
You can do the same! Get out of fear and get into faith!
