How to overcome Fear – Part 1

1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love. On the contrary, love that has achieved its goal gets rid of fear, because fear has to do with punishment; the person who keeps fearing has not been brought to maturity in regard to love.

Ask the Lord to remove it and trust His love for you!

Pray, tell God how you are feeling. Know God on a personal level and know He loves you completely. Know what God has planned for you. It is easier to trust a person you know than someone you don’t. If you know and trust God, this will stand you in good stead as fear is the opposite of trust. If you trust the Lord, your God, you will have no reason to fear. Fear will come but trust in the Lord to deliver you from fear.

Stand on the Word of God
Quote the word of God. Go with me now to
Psalm 27:1-3 – The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.

In the above Psalm, David could easily say this because he knew that if God said it, then that settled it. So, have an unshakable faith in the word of God.

2 Timothy 1:7: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

If God did not give us the spirit of fear, and we don’t want it, then, we wouldn’t have it. There are hundreds of verses in the Bible on ‘fear not.’ Meditate on those Scriptures. If you meditate on them, you wouldn’t have time to meditate on fear. Personalise the Scripture and you will see it come to pass in the name of Jesus!

As you are aware, you cannot just bring someone to court without grounds. As Christians, our defence or our grounds should be the Scriptures: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
