Matthew 1:23
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Emmanuel as translated in the above scripture means God is with us or better still; God in our midst. This apparently was the very plan of God from the beginning; He wants to always dwell in the midst of His people. He created Adam and Eve for this purpose and that explains why he walked in the midst of the garden very early in the mornings and it was during such visits that Adam and Eve could no longer withstand His presence because of the wall of sin erected by the devil. God knew they had sinned but He still came to visit as usual but they could not stand His presence because of sin.

As a result, the indestructible counsel of God came to action and for this purpose the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil; that is Sin. Jesus was sent to bring down the wall of partition erected by the devil disallowing man the access to enjoy the presence of God. Therefore the original plan was re-enacted, sin was taken out of the way and man was not only able to enjoy the cool of the day visits of the Omnipresent but an ever-present, abiding present and an indwelling presence of God. It is worth noting that the fall of man was never a surprise to God, it was all in the plan, if only the devil knew, he would have just allowed Adam to enjoy the occasional visits instead of this permanent residence of the most high.

His name is Emmanuel! God in our midst and according to Apostle Paul, if God be for us, who can be against us? It’s a question that has an obvious answer, Nobody! God is in the midst of her and she shall not be moved. In Joshua 3:17, the children of Israel where confronted with the ordeal of how to cross river Jordan into the Promised Land, what did they do? God instructed them to carry the Ark of Covenant which represents the presence of God into the midst of the Jordan and the river parted hither and thither allowing the children of Israel cross on dry ground. I see every obstacle standing between you and your promise give way by the reason of Emmanuel!

In Daniel 3:23, the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the burning fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar because they refused to bow to his Golden image. The fire was so hot that it killed the people who threw them into it and also melted the chains and shackles that was used to bind the three men but the same fire was not hot enough to kindle the clothes of the three men, they stood up walking in the fire that was meant to destroy them because there was a forth man walking with them in the fire whose image was like the son of God, Emmanuel! How can the fire hurt them when Jesus was in the midst of the fire!

Isaiah 43:2Says When thou passest through the waters, I[ will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Friend, when God is in the midst of you, your fiery burning furnace experience, will turn into an air conditioned experience in the name of Jesus!

What about Daniel in the book of Daniel 6:6, he was thrown into the lion’s den but his predators became his fellowship mates because God was with him. The same lions that could not hurt him devoured his captors’ mid-way into the lion’s den.

What about Obededum in 2Samuel 6:10, the ark of God (Emmanuel) was inadvertently abandoned in his house because the same ark had just killed Uzza. In three months, Obededum became the talk of the town because God so blessed him and his household to the point that it came to the knowledge of the king, why? Simple, God was in the midst of him and he couldn’t but prosper. Friend, Emmanuel has come and your prosperity is certain. Nations will hear about you and it shall be said of you, ‘ see what the Lord has done’! Emmanuel!
