EMBRACING OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

EMBRACING OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

October 28

2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

The oxford dictionary meaning to embrace is an act of accepting something willingly or enthusiastically while identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is.
From the above definition we can say to embrace our identity in Christ is to accept willingly or enthusiastically the person of Christ Jesus by entering into a relationship with Him and as we do this we will begin to discover who we truly are in 2 Corinthians 5:21 it was recorded that “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Christ became sin for our sakes and now we are made whole, holy and righteous if only we can comprehend and accept this truth we will always live a victorious life 1 John 5:4 (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Identity is an important part of living the abundant life. We need to believe In God’s love for us 1 John 3:1. His love is not based on our perfection or anything we have done wrong or right. If you don’t know who you are then you’re vulnerable to other people telling you who you are not but the only truth is that you are who God says you are and no one else has a vote in this matter 2 Corinthians 1:22 and 1 Peter 2:9 made us to understand that you have been defined by God and God alone. He identifies us as His own and we must begin to see ourselves the way He sees us. Jesus was able to face the incredible demands of his mission because he knew exactly who he was and this gave Him confidence to move purposefully in faith.

In John 8:32 and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. It is the truth you know that sets you free and the opposite of the truth is deception or false beliefs and this will cause you to live in unnecessary bondage. We need to saturate our mind with the truth of God’s words; it’s filled with reminders of His unconditional love for us Romans 8:35.

Don’t let the enemy steal your identity. How you see yourself is often shaped by our experience in life but we need to realize that the kingdom of God is within us and nothing should move us or change who we are in Christ because He has paid the ultimate price for our total deliverance. The apostle Paul admonished in Colossians 1:27 that our identity should only be found in Christ alone.

In conclusion: Our identity is a great treasure precious beyond our imaginations that have been kept for us by the custodian of souls. We are God’s masterpiece Ephesians 2:10 Romans 14:17. When we don’t realize who we are in Christ our faith will be crippled and if we don’t feel worthy to exercise our authority in Christ, then we won’t be doing it in the fullness of faith and will lack assurance.

Satan works diligently to program people’s minds to feel unworthy and unable to work in power of God here on earth. This is one of the most popular strongholds in existence today we need to be conscious of the fact that we should walk in power, walk in miracles and live a life of favour because we know who we are in Christ Jesus. I am what I am by the grace and power of God.
