Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.” Matthew 15:32.
DESIRE TO BE A BLESSING
The above Scripture is an extract from the story of Jesus when He miraculously fed five thousand men in the wilderness by divinely multiplying five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jesus’ desire for multiplication was not self centered but people centered – John 6:5. He was moved with compassion for the people. Do you desire multiplication and want to be rich? If your reason for getting blessed financially is to acquire and amass wealth for you and yourself alone, then you are not qualified for God’s kind of blessing. He told Abraham in Genesis 12:2 ‘And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing’ we see this in the subsequent chapter, 13:2 that Abraham became very rich in cattle, in silver and gold after he obeyed the Lord.
First, God helped him to form a picture of the kind of blessing he will be coming into and the reason why He was blessing him, which is to be a blessing. Your desire to be a blessing is one of the godly principles of prosperity that will make you enjoy multiplication.
Until people around you partake of your blessing, then you are not truly blessed. The blessing is an endowment from God to prosper. You are not blessed because you acquired wealth, rather you become rich because the blessing of God is on you. That blessing is for you and all the people God has sent to you. When you become selfish with His blessing on you, then you abuse the purpose for which the blessing came on you. You are just a custodian of His resources. God already has a store, He is not looking for store houses, rather He is looking for distribution centers. God’s financial vacancy is not for reservoirs but distributors: people He can trust with wealth and resources and will not consume and take ownership. He is in search of wealth distributors.
1Timothy 6: 17-19 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to distribute. Thus, storing up treasures for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
Becoming a distributor of God’s resources will ensure you always have stock in your store house, while withholding the resources for self acquisition and gratification will only translate from abundance into scarcity. Proverbs 11:24 says, “There is that scatters and yet increases; and[ there is] that withholds more than is meet, but it tends to poverty.” When was the last time anyone benefited from your last increase in salary? Did anyone around you enjoy from your last breakthrough? Has your last increase in salary affected your giving in church? Now, you should know why the breakthroughs have not been consistent because the last one you had, you consumed it alone which is contrary to the plan. God wants to trust you with riches if you are ready to be a distributor and not just a consumer. Distribution is a covenant access to divine multiplication and prosperity.
Psalms 112:9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
Giving your tithe and offering are covenants obligations that you must perform to secure your prosperity, but giving to the poor and needy and being a blessing to your immediate environment or to a cause is a covenant opportunity that you must grab to maintain a constant flow of heavenly resources in your direction. Your willingness to be a blessing to the world around you will be the reason why God will release and trust you with the resources. It is not enough to say it or confess that you want to be a blessing. Remember, God sees your heart from afar and He knows what you intend to do with the flow when it comes so if your heart is right and your intentions are genuine, God will release the resources. I notice that every time I determine to be a part of any community or humanitarian project, I always experience a flow. I might not have the resources in the beginning but because God knows my intention, He releases the resources. This is just like being a water channel pipe that conveys water from the source to the taps. As long as the tap is open, water flows through the pipe and it will always remain wet. In the same vein, when you make yourself a distributor of God’s resources, you will never be in lack because there will always be a flow. With this in mind, I encourage you to start to look for people around you or a worthy cause that you can bless consistently. Make it habitual and you will see how this will open you into a new realm of financial victory. Be fruitful and multiply!
