Bible reasons why Jesus came
Today, we will highlight some bible reasons why Jesus came :-
To fulfil prophecy – From Genesis to revelation, there are numerous scriptural references to the coming of the messiah (Jesus Christ). One of the major reasons why Jesus came was to fulfil scriptural prophecies. Matthew 1:21 – And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
To show us God the father and his love for us – One of the major proofs of love is giving. A non giving love is no love at all. The bible calls Jesus the express image of God. In other words, if we have seen Jesus in action we have seen God in action. From reading scriptures we see that Jesus went about always doing good and loving on people. Jesus made it clear that whoever has seen Him has seen the father. Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
To save humanity from sin and destruction – Mankind was on a path of self destruction after the fall. So Jesus came to rescue us from the destruction. Romans 3:23, made it clear that all of humanity have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 explained that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ. Matthew 1:21 – And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
To restore humanity back to God and give eternal life – At the fall Adam and Eve got disconnected from God and consequently lost the life of God. God never meant for man to be sick, live in lack or die. At creation God gave Adam his kind of life but Adam lost it at the fall. Jesus came to restore to us both the relationship and life that was lost. Luke 19:10 – for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
To give us identity, rights and privileges – Jesus came to change our identity from sinners to saints, from the enemies of God to the children of God. And with our new identity came rights and privileges. 2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
To give us divine ability – Jesus came to give us supernatural ability. In John 15, Jesus told his disciples that without him they could do nothing. No wonder Paul said in Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
To make us God’s representatives on earth – 2Corinthians 5:18, 20 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
