Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Your New Life in Christ

Romans 5:18-19 Therefore, as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s obedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (KJV)

The whole creation was subject to sin because of our being in the first Adam. This is a hard nut to crack for some because there is a struggle to understand how a baby is born a sinner (Psalm 51:5). Let it be known that a sinner is not mainly measured by wrong doing but rather of nature. As long as we are in the old man, the sin nature abides even if we do good deeds. We were born into a spiritual location of sin in the first Adam and that’s the reason we must be reborn for the old nature to be done away with. Being born again entails changing our spiritual location from the first Adam into Christ. Man is a tripartite being: he is a spirit, with a soul: living in a body. When we were born, we were spiritually dead to God but alive to sin. Being born again, however, means our spirit becoming regenerated and alive to God while we become dead to sin. Halleluyah! You who were once dead are now alive! You have been changed and now brand new with the gift of righteousness impacted into you. Many believers feel unworthy to accept that they are now righteous because they consider their lifestyle and deeds. It is not your works that makes you righteous; it is rather because of what He (Christ) has done for you. So, as a born again Christian, you have become righteous because you are in Christ. Everything Christ is, you are.

We need to understand that the enemy will try to confuse us about our identity in Christ. The devil tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness by trying to question His identity by trying to make Him doubt. He said, ‘If you are the Son of God…’ Jesus, however, knew who He was so He didn’t fall prey to temptation. You are the righteousness of God in Christ, not a liar or cheat. So when the enemy comes to harass you into behaving contrary to your identity, let the nature of God in you come alive to reveal the real you.

When you know who you are, you will know who you are not.

THE REAL YOU

Colossians 3:3 Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life – even though invisible to spectators – is with Christ in God. He is your life. (MSG)

Friend, the old you is dead. The old you who used to be moved by the wiles of the enemy is gone: you have a brand new life in Christ. This new life is your real life. Many are caught up in their past because the enemy lies to them that they are still the same. It is important you realize that the old you does not exist anymore. The new you has emerged and has been translated into the kingdom Christ. Who you are determines your identity. You might not feel any physical change yet but you need to believe you are alive to God. You are a carrier of God’s nature and your nature is what identifies you. The identity card issued by the government in a country has some key facts: Your name, date of birth, picture, date of issue / expiration, place of issue, issuing authority. These key facts reveal your citizenship. Friend, in Christ, your spiritual identity includes key facts too: a new creation, rebirth in Christ, the image of God in you and the finished works of Christ which have no expiration issued by heaven. It is your location in Christ that determines your nature which in turn defines your identity. A driver’s card, for example, is an identity that gives you the legal right to drive in a state. Your work identity card grants you security access in your office. Also, your identity in Christ is your divine access to heaven’s resources. Your identity in Christ grants you access to all things (1 Corinthians 3:22b). It’s time to live your real life in Christ!
