Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Your Authority in Christ – Part 1

Your Authority in Christ

John 1:12 But as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in to, trust in, and rely on) His name (Amplified version).

In the next few days, we will be exploring our authority in Christ. It is important that you know that one of the things that we have in Christ is the power to enforce the kingdom of God in our lives and in our world. For the purpose and plan of God to manifest on earth and in your life you need power to enforce it and make it happen. I want to encourage you to follow me on this journey as I show you the magnitude of the power that has been delivered to you in Christ. I will start this by unpacking John 1:12.

From the above scripture, we can see that when we received Christ we became the children of God and with this new status came certain benefits. Some of the benefits include authority, power, privileges and rights. I will define each of these words to flesh them out.

Authority, (power of attorney) this means delegated power to enforce something. In Christ we have been given the power to enforce God’s will and our desires on earth. Note what I said: we have power to enforce God’s will and our desires on earth. You can have what you want by the authority delivered to you in Christ.

Power is ability to do or act. It means to have strength, influence and be in a position of control. We are not to be controlled we are to be controllers in this life. We have the power to act and strength to make things happen. In Christ we have been empowered by God to influence our world and make it a better place. We have ability over devils and everything on earth. Note, we don’t have power over another human being but we have power over the things that influence human beings e.g. devils, sickness.

Right(s) means entitlement, claim and title. In Christ Jesus we have entitlements. For example, as a citizen of a country you have rights. You are entitled to certain things. You can claim something because of your identity. So also in Christ we have entitlement. Our entitlements include health, wealth, wisdom, divine protection, heaven and blessings to name a few.

Privilege(s) means to have a special right, advantage, favour and rare opportunity to do something that gives great satisfaction. In Christ we have a divine plus: an advantage over the world. Being in Christ makes us special. It is not what we do for God that make us special it is what He did for us that makes us special.

Your understanding of this truth puts you above in life. Your ignorance of it puts you at a disadvantage.
