Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Who did Jesus Call Himself Part 3

Who did Jesus call Himself? Part 3

Luke 4:17-19 –And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

He has sent me to proclaim recovery of sight to the blind – The bible says the eyes are light of the body. God told Abraham that as far as His eyes can see, that is what he would possess. The bible told us that without a vision the people perish. So our impact, success, and reach in life depend a lot on our sight. Many people because of disappointment have lost sight of their dream and given up on life and great achievements. They tell others that are still looking forward to a great future, that they should stop day dreaming. They tell them they shouldn’t expect too much, that life is full of disappointment. Friend, Jesus said He is sent to give us our sight back so we can achieve our life goals. So switch on your dream machine and let Jesus light your path for you.

He has sent me to set at liberty those who are oppressed – God hates oppression of any kind. Be it spiritual, physical, marital, career, academic, relational, He hates all forms of oppression. Jesus said I am come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. I am always weary of Christians that feel that church is a place to be uptight and cold. The church and the presence of God is the place where we are to be released into our potential, destinies, and greatness and not otherwise. Jesus lives inside of you. Until you are free on the inside, you are not really free. So, begin to receive your total freedom first from inside of you and let it grow onto the outside.

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord – To proclaim the year of God’s favour, to proclaim jubilee. Jubilee is 50 years. In bible times, in the year of jubilee, the slaves were set free. All that everyone owed were forgiven and their debts were cancelled. All lands are returned back to the original owners. Everyone’s goods, property and life are restored back to them in full. In Christ, jubilee is not every fifty years, it is every day because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. All that have been stolen from you and your family over the years and several generations shall be restored back to you in Christ.

Friend, seeing all that Jesus Christ is anointed to do for us, He is really our saviour. So use His name to release yourself from all you have been saved from and receive all you have been saved to.
