Who did Jesus call Himself? Part 1
Luke 4:17-19 –And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Colossians 1:26-27 – The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.(New King James)
Today, we will be examining who Jesus Christ called Himself and how He wants to be perceived. While this list may not be exhaustive I believe it would help you align yourself with the true identity of Jesus Christ and tap into the resource of the person that has taken residence inside of you. As you are aware , Jesus Christ lives inside everyone that has received Him into their lives as their Lord and Saviour. It’s a mystery but it is true. He has taken full residence inside of us but He needs our co-operation and permission to fully express Himself. The more we cooperate and allow Jesus Christ in our lives the more He shows forth His glory in us and through us. You don’t need to wait for heaven to come, heaven is already inside of you waiting to manifest.
The following are some of the statements that Jesus made about His identity:-
John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus called Himself the way, He didn’t say I am a way; He said I am the way. That’s absolute. The way means He is the only path and means of access to our heavenly Father and His resources. Some years ago some people told me, that there is no way I could achieve some of my goals because i have no access to such privilege. But because I knew the way, Jesus, not only have I achieved my goals, I have surpassed them. I achieved these goals because Jesus Christ, THE WAY is my access to impossible places. So where they say there is no way, Jesus is the way for you.
Jesus called Himself the truth. He didn’t say I have the truth or know the truth, He said I am the truth. He is the answer to the question; He is the perfect expression of the truth. If you want to know the truth about healing look at Jesus, if want to know the truth about prosperity look at Jesus. If you want to know the truth about anything look at what Jesus said and did about the issue and base your conviction on that.
Jesus called Himself the life. Speaking of Jesus Christ, John 1:4, 9 says in Him was life, and the life was the light of men. that was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. Without Him we have no physical or spiritual life. We owe Him our existence. The Greek word for this life is ZOE – it means life as God have it. The God kind of life. Imagine the way God live and exists, that same quality of life is yours right now and within you to enjoy.
So the way to God and all His resources lives inside of you. That means you are never without a way out in life. It means to know the truth about your situation, the answer is resident within you, therefore you are never to live in darkness or doubt about any issue. You have the answer. Not an answer, the answer. You have the God kind of life within you. So you have the privilege to live the life of heaven on earth right here and now. As the reality of this settles within you and you begin to carry this consciousness, your life becomes more colourful and glorious. From today begin to carry that consciousness and allow Jesus Christ to express Himself through you by waiting to get instructions from Him and obeying His instruction. It adds up to the glory being revealed in you.
