Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

What or who is wisdom and where can it be sourced?

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (NIV)

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (KJV)

Proverbs 4:7 – Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. (Hebrew Name Version).

One of the dictionary definitions of wisdom is the application of knowledge but that definition is incomplete. Wisdom is a spirit that gives you insight and skill to effectively see and do things God’s way in order to get maximum result. It is a supernatural force that gives good judgment and control over situations and things. Having the idea of what to do and doing it at the right time with the right attitude; this is the spirit of wisdom with understanding. As efficiency is doing the right thing and effectiveness is doing the right thing rightly. So is wisdom and understanding. You are known to have wisdom when you apply it. To effect wisdom, action must be taken.

We are the most knowledgeable human generation that has ever lived and the bible confirms it in Matthew 24 that in the last days, knowledge will increase. But as knowledge has increased in the world, so has problems. The reason for this is because knowledge does not solve problems, it only makes you aware of it. It is through wisdom that problems are solved and through understanding you stay in control over the problems and multiply solutions. For example, the most knowledgeable professors in economics and finance are not necessarily the wealthiest people in the world. He that has the most wisdom and understating has the most dominion. That said, knowledge is important because it is the raw material for wisdom.

In the above scripture we are told the value of wisdom, it is THE PRINCIPAL THING. You are aware that if you fail the principal course in school you cannot go to the next grade, you will have to repeat the course again or completely drop out of the course. So if you lack wisdom in any area of your life, you remain a struggler in that area. But thank God, through Christ we have access to God’s wisdom. So simply said wisdom is one thing we all need to become all that we are created to be and maximize our potential. Paul the apostle confirmed the value and priority of wisdom in Ephesians 1; he told the Ephesian Christians that he always prays for them for the spirit of wisdom and revelation; not sometimes but always. I told the people in our church that two things they should pray for the rest of their days would be wisdom and favour.

In the gospel of Luke 2:52, the bible specifically said that Jesus grew first in wisdom, then in stature and then in favour with man and God. I would have taught Jesus being the son of God would not need to grow in any area but I was wrong, because Jesus needed to increase in wisdom and favour. Friend, if Jesus needed to grow in wisdom and favour, then you also need to grow in wisdom and favour. That is why everyday when I wake up; the first thing I pray for is wisdom and favour. I say Jesus be my wisdom today and let me have favour with you and everyone I meet.

Two Greek words represent wisdom – Sophia– Theoretical wisdom- insight into the true nature of things. Phronesis – Practical wisdom – is the ability to discern modes of action with a view to their results. Understanding – Sunesis, understanding, intelligence, is the critical faculty, this and phronesis are particular applications of Sophia. Wisdom is chokmah in Hebrew meaning skillful, in mind, word or act Understanding is biynah in Hebrew meaning ability to separate mentally, or distinguish, be cunning, discern, look well, prudent.
