Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Tools for Exercising Lasting Victory! – Part 1

John 1:4-5 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Isaiah 54:17 – No instrument of war which is formed against you will be of any use; and every tongue which says evil against you will be judged false. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness comes from me, says the Lord. (Bible in Basic English).

As children of God victory is not a goal to achieve, it is our inheritance in Christ. Victory over sin, Satan and death and all manner of troubles are gift included in the salvation package. Jesus won the war and gave us the victory. So we are not victims trying to get victory, we are victors the devil is trying to make us victims again. So we have to retain our title and enforce our victory. We are divine enforcers. One of my favorite victory quotes is by Winston Churchill, “Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival” Friend, it was for freedom that Christ made us free and therefore we should not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage. So we have to ensure that we stay free. We are delivered to stay delivered and become deliverers. Today, I will give you some tools for exercising the victory you have in Christ.

The word – Psalm 138:2b For You have magnified your word above all your name. Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God does nothing without His word. And he does nothing against His word but only for his word. God created the heaven and earth by His word and He sustains it by His word. God will never break His word. The word of God is living and full of power and when you are full of it, you are full of life and power. So whenever, problems stare you in the face and the thoughts of defeat are rising up within you, go into the word of God to receive strength and get re- fired. However, like everything in Life, the word works by its application. This is a process I recommend for you to follow to enforce your victory through the word, know what it says about your situation, meditate on it until you believe it, declare it as yours, obey and practice it. The word only work when you work it.

Prayer and fasting – Daniel 9:3 – Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

Matthew 17:19-21 – 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Jesus fasted and prayed, Daniel fasted and prayed, the children of Israel fasted and prayed, the New Testament church fasted and prayed. So fasting and praying is important and produces tremendous results. Fasting and prayer goes hand in hand. Fasting without prayer is hunger strike. I don’t mean you should fast every time you pray but I mean you should pray every time you fast. Please be aware that prayer does not change God, it changes you and positions you for results. As you know we already have victory in Christ, so we don’t fast and pray to get what we already have, we pray and fast to enforce it because the devil is a brute and an oppose of every good thing.

You fast for the following reasons to minister to the Lord (acts 13:2-3), to lay hands on ministers to send them forth, to draw close to God in time of danger, in obedience to God’s leading. You don’t fast for victory or for extra authority over the devil. Fasting is an enforcing tool for victory that is already won. When you fast and pray, do it with purpose and have a focus so you can measure your result and progress. Set your fasting period and ensure you pray during your fast in order to receive answers for what you are fasting. Through fasting and Prayer you become more spiritually in tune and sensitive to God’s leading. It helps you shut out distraction and silence the voice of the flesh. In the above scripture in Matthew, Jesus said the reason, why his disciples could not cast out devil was because of their unbelief.

Belief (faith) comes by hearing the word of God. He also told them in addition to their faith they should set time apart for fasting and praying. So it is not fasting and prayer by itself, faith is the primary force and fasting and prayer is the additional tool of enforcement. So fasting and prayer are necessary not option in enforcing your victory. Jesus says in Matthew 6, ‘when you fast not if you fast’. So set time apart from time to time to fast and pray so as to retain and enforce your victory.

There are different type of fasts, they include the declared fast, when everybody in group, church fast, agree to fast for a season to achieve an objective, personal fast, this type of fast is for yourself and spirit lead fast. This type of fast is prompted by the Holy Spirit to get you in on something. There are different ways that people fasted in the Bible, the Daniel fast, where they stayed away from pleasant food, there is white fast where you put away water and all type of food and there other fast that are personal, for example you may decide not to watch TV for a season and spend the time prayer or studying the word.

The Holy Spirit leading – Romans 8:14 – For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

We enter into full manifestation of our inheritance through the leading of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things. So we exercise our victory by the help of the Holy Spirit. We are to seek and yield to his direction.

Jesus said, He could of Himself do nothing, whatever He see the father do, the same he did. He saw the father through the Holy Spirit. The bible says that Jesus had the Spirit without measure. He did not embark on his ministry until the Holy Spirit came upon him. First, if Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, you will need the Holy Spirit.
