Thinking Higher Thoughts and Living the Higher Life

Thinking Higher Thoughts and Living the Higher Life

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Thomas Edison once said, “thoughts are things”. The bible says as a man thinks so he is. One of the ways to live the higher life is to think higher thoughts. Today, I will share with you the ways you, as a child of God, can live the higher life in grand style.

The first step is Vision; you need to be able to see above the majority because if you see like the majority you will end like the majority. You have to be able to see what others miss. This requires reflection and concentration. You need a settled mind to see clearly. Remember, you look with your eyes but you see with your mind. Get a clear mind and you will have a clear vision.

Secondly, Determination; this is inner fortitude, strength of character, being disciplined to remain consistent, strong and diligent regardless of the odds or demands. Determination begins with a choice and culminates in a never quit, never give up, attitude.

The third is Prioritisation. It is making first things first; doing the essential things in order of importance. Never be an emotional but be a principled doer. You have to be like the warhorse that sees many things but is never deterred by distractions.

Fourthly, Accountability. This relates to answering the hard questions, being closely in touch with a few individuals rather than living like an isolated lone ranger. I am very wary of anyone in any walk of life who does not have a role model or mentor because it is only a matter of time before they crash and the problem with this kind of person is that they always bring some people down with them.

Therefore, start by thinking clearly of who God has made and called you to be, then develop an inner fortitude that cannot be compromised, and stick with an orderly pattern of operation. Finally, be answerable to higher authority. These steps will help you reign in this life above mediocrity. Welcome to the higher life.
