Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

SOME BASIC KNOWLEDGE

Now concerning spiritual gifts, I do not want you to be uninformed… 1 Cor 12:1

Spiritual gifts are controlled by the Holy Spirit and meant to be used by His children to serve one another and ultimately for the edification of the Church.  This is very important to God and therefore He expects that we are very informed and not misinformed when it comes to spiritual matters. The bible says that we should test all spirits and this means that as the Holy Spirit is manifesting in His children, the evil spirit is also in manifestation in the children of darkness. It is therefore important for us as Christians to be well informed and have a deep understanding of the diversities, the administration and operations of these gifts and discern between spirits when we see some manifestations.  More importantly for us as Christians, we should be able to identify these gifts and acknowledge them when we personally experience their manifestation in us. It is in acknowledging and recognizing these giftings that we are able to properly harness, administer and develop the gifts. If you don’t know you have it, you cannot manifest it and therefore you deprive the body of Christ. Knowledge is the opposite of ignorance and it is a vital key to accessing the gifts that has been freely given to us by God. Prov 24:14

Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says Jesus is accursed and no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit… 1COR 12:3

All spiritual gifts are controlled by the Holy Spirit and one of the main missions of the Holy Spirit according to John 16:14 is to glorify Jesus. It follows that any gift that does not ascribe glory to Christ is not of God. This forms a quick litmus test for spiritual manifestations.  Every spiritual manifestation must point and lead people to Christ and not away from Him.  We need to be careful when we see a manifestation that tries to ascribe glory to individuals and make them appear as overrated champions

But to each one is given the manifestation of the spirit to profit withal…. 1 COR 12:7

The gifts are meant for all and not for few selected people that God prefers.  Every child of God is qualified for the gifts. Not expressing the gift(s) does not mean you don’t have any, perhaps you have not recognized the fact that you have it/them. The bible says in Eph 4:8 that when He ascended on high, he led captivity captives and gave gifts to men. This includes all that are willing to accept the gifts. The problem in most cases is not with the giver but with the receiver. The gifts have been given and you are qualified. All that is required of you is to desire it and you will see yourself manifesting the gifts.

Another important point in the above scripture is that Spiritual gifts are not meant for private use alone. They are given to each person for the benefit of all. In Eph 4:12, the bible says ‘He gave the gifts for the perfecting of the saint, unto the work of ministering, unto the building of the body of Christ till we all attain unto the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a full grown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ’. When God gives a gift, He not only has the recipient in mind but generations to come that will benefit from it. This is why we all need to understand our giftings and serve one another with them so that the body of Christ can be built. Imagine if one manifest and all benefits, what happens when all manifest? Of course much more will benefit.
