We are encouraged to deal with issues in our lives before we find faults with others. Dealing with ours helps us better to really contribute to other people’s upliftment.
There is a persuasion from Christ that we should ask for what we desire and He gives us full assurance that if we would ask, we would receive for our God is a giver of good things.
The way that leads to God is always narrow and only a handful will discover it. Don’t be attracted by the flamboyant displays because their base is destruction.
Doing the will of God entails displaying it in our character, for this character will prove who we are. What we produce with our lives shows who we serve indeed. Once people claim to belong to Christ and don’t display His kind of attitude and disposition, do not believe them.
Our richness in wisdom is sourced from our carrying out the word of God. If you are wise, you have the word and if you’re not, the same also proves it. By obeying God you are strengthening your life. Challenges that will eventually come into people’s life to sweep them away will just flow over you and you will stand.
When we stand on the word of God, we become immovable, unstoppable and we will always abound in His good works.
Going to God to seek for help should be done with faith in our hearts. When this is in place, surely, the help will be granted. Our attitude must always be in conformity with the principles of Christ. In the absence of this, there is disparity and conflict of our image aligning with Christ’.
As Christ says, so shall I do. My wisdom is built on God’s word. My character will display Christ. As I ask God, I receive in Jesus’ name!
Reading – Matthew 6:16 to Matthew 7:6
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[c]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
