HOW TO WORK SIGNS AND WONDERS

HOW TO WORK SIGNS AND WONDERS

January 14

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance,  steady and active persistence, the appointed course of the race that is set before us,

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also it’s Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Amplified Version).

Knowing that this year is our year of signs and wonders, it is essential that we know how we can make signs and wonders become a reality in our lives. Working the miraculous is not automatic. It requires steps. One of the greatest temptations on the path of the miraculous is focusing on signs and wonders and not on God Himself. To focus on signs and wonders is focusing on the resource and not the source. God is the source, signs and wonders are the resources. Our faith should rest in the ability of Christ that is within us because it is through Christ Jesus that we can do all things – Philippians 4:13.

As Dollar is the legal form of exchange in the United States and Euro is the legal form exchange in Europe, faith is the legal form of exchange in the Kingdom of God. Faith moves mountains. The moving of mountains is signs and wonders. This implies that for us to work the God kind of miracle, we need the God kind of faith. We need faith not desperation. We need to develop our faith and take a step further.

In the above scripture in Hebrew 12, the Bible says that Jesus is the source and perfecter of our faith. The Bible says in Romans 12:3 – ” God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

In  other words, at salvation, we received the seed of the God kind of faith through Christ. However, the faith we received is not mature faith :  it is the SEED FAITH, so we have a responsibility to mature our faith. How, you may ask? By staying connected to. and with the source of our faith, Jesus Christ. The way we stay connected is by keeping our eyes on Him.

We keep our eyes on Jesus not by carrying crucifix, or putting up the picture of Jesus before us or on our computer screen. By the way, there is nothing wrong with this, but we focus on Jesus by feeding on His word. The Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” A wise man said, “The soldier matches on his stomach.” The Bible says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly: in all wisdom…” As we begin to consistently feed on the word of Christ, we develop and grow the characteristics and the abilities of Christ that are resident inside of us. The result of this will be signs and wonders.

I have taken up an assignment to read through all the gospels again, a chapter a day, to help my thinking and focus on Christ. I believe as I do so, I will be impacted with a fresh grace for signs and wonders. Remember, everywhere Jesus went, He did good and healed all that were oppressed by the devil – Acts 10:38. So, as we focus on Jesus, He becomes the object of our worship and He rises up from within us to do signs and wonders in us and through us. Amen!
