1 Corinthians 4:2 – Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
2 Timothy 2:2 – And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Ephesians 6:21 – But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things.
Colossians 4:7 – All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord:
The word faith is the Greek word pistis. However, in this verse it conveys the idea of a person who is faithful, reliable, loyal and steadfast. It pictures a person who is devoted, trustworthy, dependable, dedicated, constant and unwavering. The flesh wants you to be lazy, uncommitted, undependable and completely unreliable.
Paul emphasised to Timothy to choose faithful people into leadership. He also repeatedly commended Tychicus for being a faithful minister in the Lord. The last phrase in 1 Corinthians 4:2 could be paraphrased as “ it is required, that a person be found devoted, trustworthy, dependable, dedicated constant and unwavering.” The Holy Spirit bears the fruit of faithfulness in us as we allow Him and cooperate with Him.
Friends, it is time for your yes to be yes and your no to be no. Lack of this fruit has destroyed relationships, businesses and churches. God Himself is faithful, unchanging, constant, stable and unwavering therefore as we allow the Holy Spirit, He will help us bear the fruit of faithfulness and grow in it.
I want you to look inward and demand faithfulness of yourself before you require it from others. It is not enough to say we serve a faithful God but we should also be a faithful people serving a faithful God.
