Revealing Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing

Accountability The Stepping-Stone To Upward Living

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 – “This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” (Today’s New International Version).

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 – “Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Here, moreover, it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.” (The American Standard Version)

What is Accountability? To take careful charge, take care of/over; look over a thing, person or people over a period of time for another person. With accountability come rewards or consequences after a season. God takes into account the ways of man. Men take account of their resources, investment etc., to evaluate its returns based on its planned and intended performance. I am of the opinion that everyone is gifted and has at least a quality that sets them apart. Furthermore I believe that this special quality is from God and He expects us to make profit, that is, bring happiness to ourselves, to our world and glory to Him through it.

In the light of the above statement everyone is accountable to God on how they use their various divine enablement’s. Please be aware that anyone that hates accountability is a fraudster and will be brought to book on the day of reckoning.

As there are promotion exams in the educational system such that when a person passes he is then promoted, in like manner there are seasons of promotion in the things of God and when we use the initial capital He has given us productively and faithfully to His glory we are set for an upward lift and shift. God does not promote randomly rather He promotes selectively and purposely. Remember the story of the sons of Jesse? When Prophet Samuel got to their house to anoint a king over Israel God said he had rejected all of them except David (1 Samuel 16: 1-16). This implies that God is an equal opportunity employer and looks for certain qualities based on what He has deposited within you.

Also remember the writing on the wall in the Book of Daniel 5:25-28. God wrote of the king, Belshazzar, ‘God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; you have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians“. We can see clearly from this scripture that God expects a certain level of performance from anyone He puts in a position of opportunity or privilege.

You might be thinking but Pastor I don’t have any opportunities or privileges all I have are challenges, if I have the opportunities that Mr Y or Z has I will perform. But let me tell you everyone is born with something deposited in him or her by God. For example life is a gift, time is the greatest asset we all have, relationships are gifts, our minds are gifts, and God demands of us to make the very best of all this so that in the season of promotion we may be approved for an upgrade in status. Nothing is too small to build on and nowhere too low to rise from and no one is irrelevant to be accorded promotion in God’s scheme of things. It’s up to you to be faithful starting from where you are.

The following are some of the benefits of accountability:

It safeguards against waste and leakages – it would be more difficult for people to cheat and or rob you.

It prevents future disaster(s).

It sets the pace for improvement and increase.

It gives clearer understanding of progress or failure in any enterprise.

It is the best way to ascertain the true measure of a man or woman.

It helps build credibility with others.
